WebWide Corporation
is a British Website Marketing Company, we only promote UK based
websites.
It all started
back in 1996 - last century! It seems like the dim and distant
past when the world wide web was a dream to many and misunderstood
by most.
Peter Yexley
was a director of a British plc and has been involved in marketing
since the 1970's. He was involved in some of Britain's historic
events such as the marketing side of the program for raising of
Henry VIII's flagship, The Mary Rose and a few generations after
King Henry, The Royal Wedding fireworks display in Hyde Park for
His Royal Highness, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. The
very first London Marathon too was part of Peter Yexley's marketing
history..
As the internet
began to emerge in the UK, Peter could see the sheer marketing
potential for British Businesses, at that time his marketing expertise
was ink on paper based, but he could see that promoting and marketing
websites would be the way his company would go ... his chairman
disagreed and Peter started an internet marketing business, a
long time ago now. Peter Yexley is one of the internet pioneers.
Imagine the
'gold rush' in the 1850's, the internet industry was very much
the same in the 1990's ... cowboys abounded the land even then!
Peter Yexley
didn't want to dig for gold, not that is was too much like hard
work, but because it was no different to the old gold rush a hundred
and fifty years ago. Too many prospectors knowing too little with
too many tunnels going in the wrong direction.
Website designers
appeared from everywhere, website addresses were long and difficult
to remember, good ones were expensive to buy, few understood about
hosting and tools were difficult to obtain.
Three types
of businesses really succeed in the boom towns during the gold
rush; undertakers, doctors and equipment suppliers. Levi Strauss
is still going strong!
Peter Yexley
formed www.the-web-doctor.co.uk
- The Web Doctor in 1997 - and is stll operating today (pun intended!).
Websites were slow because of bad internet connections and poor
design in most cases ... some only got half baked before the the
designers fled town. Okay, it was a little like 'Ambulance Chasing'
but someone had to do it. The Web Doctor did it successfully.
The Web Doctor
performed just one major function; to optimise the website for
maximum marketing potential. It seemed that nobody else was doing
this at the time, certainly a scarce breed in Britain. Often a
little tweak did the job and sometimes major surgery was required
but Peter Yexley was making websites better.
Peter felt
that there seemed to be no focus, websites were being created
but then like the old wild west, there were many casualties and
The Web Doctor was kept busy. Generally most website owners seemed
to be very disappointed with the results or lack of them. It is
always easy to blame the website designer and there were some
very good creative individuals, but no matter how good looking
a website is, if it cannot be found, it is no good at all.
Peter's view
then, and still now is that good website designers should remain
just that and marketing people should promote and market websites.
In reality it is no different to say, graphic designers; they
create the label and the marketeers take on the task of going
to market.
A busy website
designer is too busy to market and promote websites. A busy website
marketing expert is too busy to build websites ... horses for
courses! Being a marketeer, Peter concentrated on marketing websites.
UKHQ was formed and Peter Yexley's
internet marketing business was kept busy by local businesses,
but county by county more businesses were seeking website promotions
Peter Yexley style and in 2003 WebWide Corporation was incorporated
as a Private Limited Company No. :04721909.
As internet
marketing experts, we will not promote two identicle businesses
for ethical reasons and we only promote UK based websites. Further
